The biggest technology innovation in 2010 was the launch of the Ipad from Apple. At first glance many people thought it was nothing more than a glorified iPod and sounded like a feel health product. Well the criticism and sarcasm ended very quickly once consumers started using the product.
For many of us the iPad has the potential to replace the laptop for the farmer on the go. With a simple touch interface and full integration with your itunes account, the iPad just seems so right. During the winter farm show circuit in 2011, the iPad was the popular choice for draws and raffles at many booths. As the months go on more and farmers are using the iPad or some of the sister devices for daily work on the farm.
Many Agnerds have patiently been waiting for the Playbook from Blackberry but the release has been continually delayed. The droid tablet has been gaining but the tablet market is still being dominated by the iPad and recently launched iPad 2.
In Episode 2 of the Agnerds series, Peter Gredig (@agwag), Agnition, Janice Person (@jplovescotton), Monsanto and I discuss the huge success of the iPad in agriculture and why so many farmers are seeing it as a great fit for the farm.
